Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: {{INSERT_DATE_AT_LAUNCH}}

This page explains how Home Aspire earns money — clearly and in plain English. Trust matters more than commission, and we want you to understand exactly how the relationship works before you click any link on the Site.

The short version

As an Amazon Associate, Home Aspire earns from qualifying purchases.

When you click on a product link on this Site that takes you to Amazon.co.uk and you go on to buy something, we may earn a small commission. The price you pay is exactly the same as if you’d typed amazon.co.uk into your browser directly. Amazon pays us out of their margin, not yours.

Throughout the Site you’ll see product recommendations with buttons or links that lead to Amazon.co.uk. These are “affiliate links.” When you click one, two things happen:

  1. You’re taken to the relevant product page on Amazon.co.uk.
  2. Amazon places a small tracking cookie on your device that lasts for up to 24 hours.

If you make a qualifying purchase from Amazon during that 24-hour window — whether or not it’s the product we recommended — we may earn a small commission on the items you buy. This is called the “24-hour cookie” and it’s how the Amazon Associates programme works for everyone.

We don’t see what you bought specifically — only aggregated commission earnings reports.

Programme details

We participate in the Amazon EU Associates Programme, the affiliate-marketing programme run by Amazon EU S.à r.l. for the Amazon.co.uk and other European Amazon sites. Our UK Associates tracking ID is kestrel04-21.

You can identify our Amazon links by the tag=kestrel04-21 parameter in the URL, by the rel="sponsored nofollow" attribute on each link, and by the small “Amazon paid link” or “#ad” label near each link cluster.

We display Google AdSense ads on the Site as an additional revenue source. AdSense ads are served and managed by Google. See our Cookie Policy for details.

How this affects our recommendations

We won’t pretend the affiliate relationship has no influence at all — that would be naïve. We have an obvious commercial incentive to recommend products that pay higher commissions. Here’s how we keep that in check:

  1. We tell you the truth about products, including ones we don’t recommend. Where a product is overpriced, mediocre, or not the right fit for a particular buyer, we say so — even if it would have paid us more.
  2. We segment recommendations by buyer type. A premium robot vacuum might be the right answer for a four-bedroom home with two dogs but the wrong answer for a one-bed flat with a cat. We don’t pretend one product is “best for everyone.”
  3. We don’t make up testing claims. We are transparent about how we evaluate products: specification analysis, synthesised user feedback from verified reviews, comparison methodology, and (where applicable) hands-on use. Where a product has not been tested in person, we say so.
  4. We use price bands, not live prices. Live prices change constantly and create a temptation to push the cheapest deal regardless of fit. We describe products as Budget / Mid-range / Premium and direct you to Amazon for the current price.
  5. We refuse certain product categories on principle. We don’t recommend products in regulated or high-risk categories (prescription medicines, infant formula, blood pressure monitors, etc.) — see our Terms of Service for the full list.

What you should still do

Even though we work hard to be honest, you should always:

  • Verify current price and availability on Amazon.co.uk before buying — both can change daily.
  • Read recent product reviews on Amazon.co.uk alongside our recommendations. We synthesise patterns from many reviews; individual experiences may differ.
  • Check the product specifications match your needs — UK plug type, room size, compatibility with your existing setup, etc.
  • Review Amazon.co.uk’s return policy for the specific product before purchase.

What we don’t do

To make our position clear:

  • We don’t accept paid placements, sponsored reviews, or “you’ll get a higher ranking if you pay us” deals from manufacturers or sellers.
  • We don’t run sweepstakes or giveaways that require you to click affiliate links.
  • We don’t use fake urgency (“only 2 left!”, “ends today!”), fake scarcity, or fake countdown timers.
  • We don’t display fabricated star ratings or review counts.
  • We don’t “we tested 100 products” claims when we haven’t.
  • We don’t share your personal information with Amazon, advertisers, or anyone else beyond what’s described in our Privacy Policy.

Where else this disclosure appears

In addition to this page, the Amazon Associates disclosure appears:

  • In the footer of every page on the Site
  • Near the first affiliate link on every article page
  • Adjacent to product recommendation cards

This is intentional. UK consumer guidance and Amazon programme requirements both expect the affiliate relationship to be visible, not buried.
